I had a pacemaker implant that deemed it necessary to stay overnight to monitor the success of the procedure. That evening I was greeted with a beautiful smile, an enthusiastic attitude, and a warm presence to make my stay as comfortable as possible. This wonderful knowledgeable nurse was Brittney from the Heart and Vascular floor.
During my overnight stay, I was experiencing discomfort from the procedure and it was by her intuition almost to get me a bag of ice to put on my shoulder to relax the pain. In addition to that, she asked my pain level and was able to get my Tylenol to help my discomfort. Brittney came back often to check on me considering how busy she and al the nurses and staff was that evening. She suggested that I try and walk the hallways with her when things calmed down somewhat. Not only once did she do this but a couple of times to get me to relax and not worry.
Nurses not only must have clinical skills, but they must be compassionate, great listeners, intuitive to patient needs, kind, enthusiastic, and smile even after working a 12 hour plus shift.
Brittney demonstrated all of these personal qualities and is a true DAISY Nurse.
I appreciate CHI for giving me the opportunity to say "Thanks" to all the staff of doctors, nurses, and your entire team of medical professionals.
