Brittney was always cheerful and encouraging and made a lousy situation (infection and hospitalization) so much easier.
My husband has been a type 1 diabetic for about 48 years. We see a lot of doctors, and he has been hospitalized numerous times. In 2019, he had a below-the-knee amputation of his right leg. He was recently hospitalized for a serious infection in his left leg. Brittney went above and beyond to care for his leg. Her strong emphasis was on education for my husband and me about caring for the leg and working to prevent another infection. She thoroughly explained every procedure.

My husband has had care for his leg at the lymphedema clinic at CarolinaEast and has been treated by a dermatologist, but no one has ever done the painstakingly tedious amount of wound care for the skin on his leg. She brought in a nursing class to observe (and, with my husband’s permission, participate in) the process, and it was clear that she cares about the education of anyone who is going to be treating patients at your hospital. After she performed this process two times in the two days he was admitted, my husband’s leg looked better than it had looked in years. Brittney was always cheerful and encouraging and made a lousy situation (infection and hospitalization) so much easier. It was the first time in a long time that I was made to feel encouraged and somewhat optimistic about the condition of my husband’s one remaining leg. She is smart, and she cares, and our experience with her was exceptional.
