I went to the detox unit to get some help with my alcoholism. She convinced me to go to a program upstairs at the VA hospital. While I was there, she talked to me every evening, and we created a bond that we still have today. Her words of encouragement to a complete stranger have caused me to remain sober for 11 months. She went above and beyond their job. Brittnie found ways to have time to sit and chat with me while I was in the break room.

Those chats gave me so much hope and encouragement, and I do not believe I could have come so far without that encouragement and help during my time in the VA. Brittnie was there every day to encourage and talk with me. I was discharged and found other resources with her help. Now I have been well for 11 months. It was because of her encouragement. I am not sure I would be doing so well today if it weren’t for my nurse, Brittnie. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty, and I appreciate her very much.
