What stands out to me is Brooke's efficiency and technical skill, but more so the way she makes every patient feel seen, heard, and prioritized, every visit, every time.
Brooke is a nurse who promotes and advances the profession of nursing positively in the infusion setting for the community. She actively and continuously seeks ways to support the values of Onslow and the integrity of the organization and Infusion Center and collaborates effectively with all levels of peers and healthcare providers. This is how she demonstrates professionalism. Brooke is a nurse who accepts responsibility and accountability for her practice, demonstrating integrity, respectability, and ethical soundness. This is how she demonstrates honesty. Brooke is an advocate who tirelessly seeks opportunities to serve patients, families, and colleagues. This is how she demonstrates commitment. Brooke demonstrates knowledge, positive communication skills, self-awareness and development, patience, honesty, trust, humility, hope, and courage. This is how she demonstrates caring.
Brooke dynamically impacts outcomes in the infusion setting and the community through innovation and enterprising healthcare initiatives. This is how she demonstrates dynamism. Perhaps I watch with an eagle eye, but as a fellow OMH employee and a patient's family member, I have witnessed different situations a hundred times again where Brooke has gone above and beyond to provide extraordinary care for our patients and for my personal family. Brooke has been a pivotal part in ensuring that these members of our community can remain at Onslow Memorial Hospital for their care. I have witnessed her being cognizant and recognizing situations of need and communicating with appropriate teams, ensuring that all our patients receive the appropriate care close to home. I have been witness to Brooke serving as a mentor for future generations of nurses, providing them cutting edge education on the complexity of what is the Infusion Center, even being witness to one student that praised her mentorship and skill set, experiencing first-hand the real life success of Brookes technical skills when needing to float an IV (in which the student has never seen be successful before), and her trust and rapport with her patients.
What stands out to me is Brooke's efficiency and technical skill, but more so the way she makes every patient feel seen, heard, and prioritized, every visit, every time. She shows genuine interest in her patients' backgrounds and interests with warmth and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on her patients and their family members. Such caring professionals make a meaningful difference in the patient experience. To describe Brooke in one sentence that exemplifies how she is an outstanding nurse, I would say that her commitment to patients is inspiring and certainly something to which I think all aspire; this community is lucky to have her.
