Congratulations to our newest DAISY Award winner, Brooke Avila, RN, Cardiothoracic Surgical Services (CVOR)! Brooke was nominated for lending exceptional care during a Code Blue.
A pharmacist she assisted during a Code Blue nominated Brooke. While the pharmacist multitasked to prepare medications, Brooke immediately recognized the urgency and offered to help without hesitation. After assisting with the medication, Brooke stepped in to perform chest compressions with exceptional technique.
“In my 21 years as a pharmacist at Saint Agnes, I have never had a nurse step in to assist me during a Code Blue the way Brooke did,” the nominator said. “She demonstrated outstanding clinical skill, situational awareness, teamwork, and compassion. Her willingness to step in during a critical moment made a meaningful difference. I am truly honored to work alongside such a caring, thoughtful, and highly capable nurse.”
