I was a patient of Brooke's in the Progressive Care Unit and was absolutely taken away with the care and compassion that she immediately showed to me as a patient. She treated me and my family with such respect and had such a positive supportive approach at the time when I was initially admitted into the hospital that it helped me keep my head up and to think positive and look at the good versus the bad on my pain.
Brooke was able to post my medication times and type of medication on the care board on the wall, so we all knew what meds, times, daily goals, and care plan to help her provide the right care at the right time.
Brooke absolutely demonstrates the daily practice of the core values of Providence: Respect, Compassion, Justice, Excellence, and Stewardship. Her positive supportive approach to treating my injuries and pain continuously lifted my spirits and gave me the positive attitude throughout this process that I was going through with one problem after another up to and including osteoporosis at the age of 43 and all of the compression fractures of my spine!
Brooke made not only me feel comfortable, but also it was fantastic how she as an extraordinary nurse uses a team approach with the healthcare team that included the physicians, me as the patient, and my entire family; my mom, dad, wife, and also my 6-year-old angel of a daughter. Brooke made it perfectly clear that everyone was involved with my care while I was here.
I especially liked and felt very comfortable how when she asked me, "How are you doing today?" she actually meant it! She took time to listen to me and find out what and how my pain was doing, how my health was progressing, how much I was able to do and if I was able to getting out and moving around.
