Brooke was my nurse on the last day at St. Thomas West. She was top notch! My wife and I were so pushing to be released. But after listening to Brooke, she helped us understand what was going on and we backed off and realized the best place for me might be in the hospital and not to rush things. She never told us not to rush. She never told us we might be getting ahead of things. Brooke instead took all the time she thought we needed to give us a bigger picture.
The only familiarity I have had with hospital stays has been with my aging parents. This time it was me for a GI bleed. When it came to really understanding what blood counts were and how they could affect me getting released or not, Brooke cared and helped. I am generally pretty relaxed and laid back and love to see others smile and laugh. While she helped us understand the medical side of things she also was fun in making that day feel a little lighter. Man, was it welcome to have someone picking and joking with me for a bit! Brooke has made sure we will choose St. Thomas West in the future, even when it is not the most convenient for us. It will be worth it. Brooke you made a difference for us! Thanks!
