December 2025 Honoree
Brooke Gill, BSN, RN
My healthy, fun-loving son had a cardiac event. Before that, he had been feeling well. In fact, he had just returned home from a weekend adventure with his son, father, and best friend. He was stabilized in the ER, then transferred to the ICU. We had great hope that he would make a full recovery; however, that was not to be. His wife and I rode an emotional roller coaster in the ICU unit with him for the next four days. The rest of the family prayed from home. From hope to despair, his nurse helped us through it all. She treated my son and the entire family professionally. She was the most compassionate and caring nurse I've had the pleasure to know. She constantly watched over my son and took wonderful care of him.
In addition, she provided the rest of the family with compassion, hugs, attentive listening, and whatever else we needed to get through the most difficult days of our lives. It was like having another family member with us. She stayed to attend his hero walk and supported his family and friends through his organ donation. I called her our "angel". It was like she was placed in our lives when we really needed her selfless understanding and compassionate care. I thank God each day for nurses like Brooke.

Thank you, Brooke, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
