This was the first time I wasn’t holding in tears from being stressed out
I am a new grad nurse who just started on my own. My first couple of shifts were very stressful and I felt like I couldn’t ask questions because everyone was busy or that the questions were questions I shouldn’t be asking. I felt very overwhelmed. This past shift I did not have the easiest patients and went back for a stat C section. Brooke was already there and helped me out tremendously. This was the first time I wasn’t holding in tears from being stressed out because she helped without me asking for help; she just did it. I was talking to my friend about how nice and helpful Brooke was during this shift. It truly meant so much how helpful and there she was for me. Being a new grad nurse on a busy floor is very stressful and you don’t want to bug people too much, but Brooke helped me without me even asking.

Then driving home I got a Facebook message from her with a very sweet text saying I did amazing tonight and she just wanted to remind me. That extra step of going out of her way to text me truly meant so much to me. I don’t think she realizes how much that text really helped me and how sweet it was but it’s something that I’ll remember. Hopefully, when I am the experienced nurse, I can help a new grad in any way I can with a positive and accepting attitude.
