This is a letter of commendation for one of your nursing staff. I was a patient at Porter Medical Center, where I was diagnosed with pneumonia and spent 6 days recovering. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013 and had recently been told that I had stage 4 ovarian cancer- with no pain, a few unrecognized symptoms, and disbelief. As you might imagine, my spirits were low and this unplanned stay in the hospital was difficult.

Into my life walks Brooke Perlee. She can do it all and do it well. Whatever the issue at hand, Brooke handled it with efficiency and competence. She gets an A+ for nursing skills and knowledge. Brooke has that special something that you either have it, or you don’t. Compassion, sensitivity, knowing what I needed even when I didn’t. We laughed and I came to terms with my illness, inspired by Brooke’s support and understanding. It’s that quality that you can’t teach, “the girl's got it”! Brooke is an asset to your staff and made my stay at Porter Medical Center very positive.
