Brooke is truly an incredible nurse, and our family will always be grateful for the care she gave my dad. Before this recent stay at SVH, he had never been hospitalized. Because of that — and because of how serious and unexpected everything felt — he was scared and very unsure of what to expect. Brooke made all the difference. She didn’t just come in and do her job — she took the time to really get to know my dad. She talked with him, listened to him, and treated him like a person, not just a patient in a hospital bed. She always explained things in a way he could understand and never made him feel silly for asking questions. Her patience and kindness helped calm his fears and ease his frustrations more than she probably realizes. What meant the most was how she helped him feel like he still had some control. During a time when everything felt overwhelming and beyond his control, Brooke made sure he understood what was happening and that he felt included in his own care. Our family cannot thank Brooke enough. The compassion she showed wasn’t just good nursing — it was genuine, heartfelt care. She made a scary experience so much easier for all of us, and we will always remember the impact she had.
