I was amazed by what we achieved with Brooke’s help and to the benefit of our patient.
Brooke provides phenomenal care coordination for patients with genitourinary malignancies. Brooke consistently picks up patients in trenches due to poor socio-economic profile and debility from cancer and guides them through the complex journey of cancer care. This includes multiple visits with oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, as well as scans, chemotherapy, and compliance with complicated treatment plans.
Brooke has ensured a near blind patient with kidney failure from obstruction due to prostate cancer got cancer care that saved his remaining kidney function and received ophthalmology care for cataracts that gave his vision back. The patient was so frustrated with his condition that he was suicidal and showed up in the clinic more than once, since he did not have anywhere he could go for help. Brooke successfully navigated his care coordination.
A patient with congestive heart failure, on supplemental oxygen and mobility issues, was to receive chemotherapy to shrink his bladder cancer so he may be able to receive surgery to remove the cancer. The patient required additional lab checks, extra intravenous fluids, and diuresis. Patient was evaluated/admitted for complications such as infection, confusion, or volume overload after each chemotherapy cycle. Brooke ensured the patient’s problems were addressed appropriately, and he stayed on track for chemotherapy. The patient was able to receive most of the planned chemotherapy. I was amazed by what we achieved with Brooke’s help and to the benefit of our patient.
