I nominate nurse Brooke Van der Steen as a true medical wonder for helping my wife who was admitted after undergoing a surgical procedure. From the very moment my wife was moved to this floor, Brooke was very caring, compassionate and professional.
When my wife was transferred into her new bed in so much pain as she was trying to get around and not sleeping at night and feeling confused, Brooke immediately took charge and consulted with the doctor regarding things that needed attention. That makes Brook stick out is the way she does things and is compassionate, caring and extremely capable of handling any problem or situation in a professional manner. She always checked on my wife and made sure all her questions and concerns were answered.
More importantly, Brooke takes the time to listen to you especially when you have been in the hospital for a few days and are having a bad day. She makes you smile and feel as though you are the most important patient in the hospital. I spent two nights in this hospital and was able to evaluate each nurse that provided care, but Brooke is one of a kind.
