I would like to nominate Brooke for the DAISY Award because she consistently goes above and beyond expectations and truly embodies what it means to be an exceptional pediatric nurse. One situation that stands out occurred in our pediatric clinic when a mother brought her child in without realizing how sick her baby truly was. At first glance, the visit seemed routine, but Brooke immediately noticed subtle signs that something wasn’t right. She recognized the baby was lethargic and quickly assessed oxygen levels, discovering they were critically low. Because of Brooke’s attentiveness, clinical knowledge, and trust in her instincts, she acted without hesitation. She escalated care promptly, and the baby was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The mother had no idea how serious her child’s condition was, and Brooke’s thoroughness very likely prevented a much worse outcome. This is not an isolated incident; this is how Brooke approaches every patient. She takes the time to be thorough, she notices what others might miss, and she advocates fiercely for her patients, no matter how busy the clinic is. Brooke’s dedication extends beyond the workplace. As a coworker and a parent, I trust her completely, so much so that even with my own children at home, she is the nurse I turn to for guidance. She is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely loves what she does, and it shows in every interaction she has with patients, families, and staff. Brooke is always on top of her game, consistently exceeding expectations and making a real difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. She is exactly the kind of nurse the DAISY Award was created to honor.

She asked all relevant questions to accurately assess the patient’s condition while remaining calm and reassuring to avoid alarming the mother. Brooke demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills to ensure the baby received the necessary care to remain stable until the ambulance arrived. She maintained complete composure throughout the incident, and her professionalism meant other patients were unaware that an emergency was taking place. Brooke is an excellent RN! I firmly believe she deserves a DAISY!
