I want to let you know how much I appreciate the efforts of Brooklyn Digges, who went above and beyond in visiting me and my son in the ICU. Brooklyn was a former middle school student of mine. By coincidence, Brooklyn recognized our last name on the roster of patients on the unit floor. When Brooklyn finished her late-night shift, instead of going home to rest, she decided to stop by my son’s room to spend time with me, and to meet my son and husband. Brooklyn and I were able to reminisce about middle school. It gave me great satisfaction to know that one of my former students is currently thriving in her career in nursing. While we were talking, Brooklyn retained her vigilance and kept a keen eye on my son. She also saw the concern on my face, and she was there to offer encouraging words. Her compassion, thoughtfulness, and love made me very grateful that she chose the nursing profession and that she was working in the ICU at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. Her visit brightened our day and helped give us hope for the future during a very dark time. She is a great asset to both INOVA Alexandria and the field of nursing. She is a bright light that makes this world a better place.
