I ended up being admitted to the hospital for the first time. I had the worst 48 hours of my life – from a car accident with a deer to a guinea pig bite, then getting admitted to the hospital for the bite, and my boyfriend being out of town with flight delays in getting back. Brooklyn was my day RN during my first few days in the hospital but continued to work on the unit throughout my stay. She was incredibly kind and compassionate toward me, bringing a calm and happy presence. She listened to me while I cried about my awful week and offered support. A few days into my stay, she was no longer assigned as my nurse, yet she checked in on me daily and asked for updates on my dog and car. Even during this stressful time, she managed to put a smile on my face. My discharge date kept getting pushed back, and she randomly surprised me with the news that my support dog was allowed to visit me. I had no idea she was getting that approved for me, as I hadn’t asked if he could see me, so it was the biggest surprise. Having him visit me is honestly a memory I will cherish forever. I can’t thank her enough for the care she provided during my stay. She truly is someone who is meant to be in the healthcare field.
