Thanks to that swift action and compassionate care, my husband not only made it to Chicago but also received the necessary treatment that ultimately saved his life.
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and unwavering support Brooklynn provided my husband during his time at Franciscan. Her dedication, compassion and quick thinking were instrumental in ensuring his survival, and for that, we are forever grateful. My husband was admitted to Franciscan for pain management on with his Multiple Myeloma and subsequently, three days later suffered several strokes. He was transferred to the ICU for care and that is when Brooklynn became his nurse and ultimately also his advocate. When my husband's condition took a critical turn, and I made the decision to transfer him to a higher-level facility, her advocacy and determination were remarkable. All of the doctors were on board as well as the case manager; however, everyone was attempting to transfer him to Univ of Chicago as they had no immediate beds. Brooklynn's insistence on exploring all options, including Rush and Northwestern hospitals, proved to be a lifesaving decision. Her relentless efforts, including calling Rush every hour until the ambulance was on its way, exemplify her commitment to her patient's well-being. Brooklyn's presence, both physically and emotionally, provided us with comfort and reassurance during an incredibly difficult time. Thanks to that swift action and compassionate care, my husband not only made it to Chicago but also received the necessary treatment that ultimately saved his life. Against all odds, he defied expectations, and we attribute much of his miraculous recovery to Brooklynn's expertise and dedication. My husband is now on his road to recovery. He is at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, talking, moving both sides of his body, setting goals to be able to walk soon and come home. He was supposed to be ordained a Deacon to serve in the Catholic Diocese of Gary on and while that is now "temporarily postponed" it is now a goal he will be able to attain in the near future thanks to the dedication and service provided by Brooklynn MacDonald. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude for this nurse's role in his journey to recovery. She truly embodies the spirit of nursing excellence, and we are profoundly thankful for everything she did for us.
