Brooks listened and reassured me that it was normal and that I might have a career in critical care.
He is available and always willing to come and supervise any skill we are not comfortable doing. If we had a tough clinical day, he would have checked in with us personally to see how we were doing. I was able to participate in CPR compressions on a patient in the ER, and he was there guiding and encouraging. Afterward, he was clear that if I needed to talk about anything or had any questions, I could call or text him. Later, I questioned myself about the fact that I was fine, even though we lost the patient. He listened and reassured me that it was normal and that I might have a career in critical care. To this day, I am confident with my skills and actions as a nursing student.
