I'm writing this on behalf of myself and my deceased mother. She had her pacemaker replaced about two years ago and Bruce assisted us prior to and after her procedure. Mama struggled with anxiety as she has had SO many medical procedures and now...at her age (89)...to undergo a pacemaker replacement was exceptionally disconcerting to her. I will say that Bruce had us in stitches!!! And truth be told, Mama had him in stitches too! Everything from him asking loudly if she could hear him OK only to have her yell back "What?" and more...hahaha! We talked about all sorts of things and even the fact that I asked Mama if she had to go "she-she" which is what we called peeing where I grew up in Hawaii. I knew it was originally a Japanese word that was commonplace in the islands but don't know how to spell it. Bruce perked up because he never heard that used in Corvallis and absolutely knew what we were referring to because he had lived in Japan for a spell. Mama didn't make it much longer after we had this delightful day with Bruce, but she often referred to him as the funniest and the most memorable medical personnel she ever experienced. His delightful character, wit, concern for Mama's comfort, and knowledge were truly remarkable and made what could have been an uncomfortable experience pass with complete ease. Thank you, Bruce, I will never forget you and Mama is probably smiling from heaven knowing that I am FINALLY writing to acknowledge you for being one of the best medical personnel we've ever known, and trust me - we've experienced many. Most are great...but you are exceptional. Keep blessing others with your heart and humor...please...the world needs more people like you.
