Bryan is often recognized by his patients and their family members for being attentive to their needs and advocating for excellent care.
Bryan first came to our Critical Care Unit at Mount Sinai South Nassau as a student nurse extern for the summer and then as a new graduate nurse a little over one year ago. I have overseen him as an assistant nurse manager for that time. I speak for the entire Critical Care when I say Bryan's positive attitude is contagious among all individuals he works with. He displays several remarkable qualities of a professional nurse in his short time at South Nassau, including leadership, accountability, and commitment to patient advocacy. Bryan is often recognized by his patients and their family members for being attentive to their needs and advocating for excellent care.

Bryan consistently looks for ways to improve the workflow and care of the patients on our unit. Specifically, he has been involved in our initiative for early mobility. Bryan has been recognized by family members for getting their loved ones out of bed and into a chair, even when they are ventilated. It makes an incredible difference to the patients and families to get out of bed and mobilize even a short distance.

Bryan is able to bring compassion and empathy back to the bedside, after a grueling few years amidst the pandemic. At this time, the Critical Care has set a new goal of achieving the ANCC's Beacon Award for Excellence in 2023. Beacon awardees set the standard for excellence in patient care environments. Bryan was sought out and elected by his peers to facilitate the application for the CCU. Bryan is enthusiastic and eager to lead the team in earning this prestigious award. Just this month of February, Bryan was voted by his peers as employee of the month. This award is given to a nurse who goes above and beyond to help their team, remains active in unit decisions and displays clinical excellence at the bedside.

It is an honor to nominate Bryan for the DAISY Award, as has already displayed so many wonderful qualities as a professional nurse. I know Bryan will go on to do even more great things, and for that we are thankful he chose our team to be a part of.
