In the recent month, one RN rose above others in that he got to know our son very well, Bryan Homyak. He started us on skin to skin time, and encouraged us despite the concerns with the ventilator. He made his concerns personal to us. He took time to come by and check in with us on his day off. He was training other new RNs that day, but still took the time to check in to see us. Then, on a different occasion, he offered to join in a parent/doctor conference when it was his day off to provide support which showed us how much he cared. We told him not to come but that we were so thankful that he even wanted to. We nominate Bryan for the DAISY Award for going above and beyond and showing us his support and compassion.
