I have been a nurse for 16 years and I've worked with Bryan for approximately 4 of those years in the NCCU. In all that time, I don't think I have ever worked with a more compassionate, intelligent, and emotionally balanced nurse as Bryan. He is adored by all; patients, nurses, doctors and management alike. He arrives to the unit with a big smile, reassuring demeanor and a willingness to take on anything that comes his way.
What I find so amazing about Bryan is his integrity and incredible humble spirit. He has worked on the unit as Charge RN for many years and although he could have easily been promoted, Bryan chose to stay on floor helping patients and be back up Charge. He is my number one go to person when I have a problem, question, or just need someone to bounce ideas off of. Bryan is so giving of his time and energy to anyone who asks. He is truly an awesome team player. Whenever the unit has a new admit, Bryan is the first nurse in the room to help settle the patient in. He also is always willing to take on a heavier load to ease the acuity of another nurse.
Lastly, Bryan is a superb role model for old and new nurses. He is a gentle, patient preceptor for many years, making him a popular favorite of all the new grads. He challenges himself by taking on additional responsibilities in the unit; he's a member of Shared Leadership and the Stroke Team. He also likes to engage in discussion about the latest evidence based practice.
Bryan Nolan deserves the DAISY Award. The recognition and honor is long past due for his commitment and steadfast dedication to the nursing profession.
