I would like to recognize Bryce from the cardiology Unit for the extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and care he provided during one of the most frightening experiences of my life.

I was admitted to Boulder Community Health for a cardiac ablation that was expected to be an outpatient procedure. Unfortunately, complications arose during surgery when my heart rate dropped, and my cardiologist decided to keep me overnight for observation. During my stay, additional issues occurred, including a pause in my heart rhythm during the night, a negative reaction to medication that caused digestive distress, and temporary vision loss. Because of the vision changes, I underwent numerous tests to rule out a stroke.

Throughout this entire ordeal, both my husband and I battled fear, uncertainty, and stress. Bryce was the steady, reassuring presence that carried us through that experience. Not only was his nursing care exceptional, but his demeanor, patience, and kindness were exactly what we needed during a time of crisis.

He never appeared rushed and always made me feel like I was his priority. He checked on me frequently, listened carefully to every symptom and concern I had, and took the time to explain what I was experiencing and why it was happening. His calm and compassionate approach immediately put both me and my husband at ease.

What stood out most was Bryce's gift for teaching and communication. He went far beyond simply answering questions. He actually drew a diagram of my heart and carefully explained the areas affected during the procedure, what had been treated, and how the healing process would progress in the coming days and weeks. He made complicated medical information understandable at a time when I was emotionally exhausted and concerned. Because of him, I felt informed, reassured, and empowered instead of confused and afraid.

Bryce's compassion felt deeply genuine. It is obvious that he not only loves nursing, but that he truly has a calling for it. I even joked with him that if I ever needed another procedure in the future, I would call ahead to make sure it was scheduled during his shift - but honestly, I mean it.

In all of my experiences with healthcare, I have never encountered someone more caring, attentive and compassionate than Bryce. He made an incredibly difficult situation bearable, and I will never forget the comfort and confidence he gave both me and my husband during such a vulnerable time. He truly deserves the DAISY Award!

Thank you, Bryce, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
