She knew that it was not only medications and rounding but it was also the mental and emotional well-being of her patient.
Our brother was hospitalized with a stroke and then had subsequent strokes that rendered him without brain activity. He passed in your Hospice unit. We traveled quite a distance from out of state to be with our brother and his son. Bryna Moore was his nurse for several days. She was incredible. There was so much great energy, so much compassion, and so much caring. She truly seemed like one of our family. She took such great care of our brother. She was attentive to all his needs; she made a point to visit with him and have real conversations with him before he had his final stroke. Just as importantly, she cared for the family. She would check on us, too, and ask if we needed anything. That was incredible. She had such a great approach to patient care. She knew that it was not only medications and rounding but it was also the mental and emotional well-being of her patient. In addition, it was going the extra mile to care for us. This was a difficult time for us due to the exhaustion of travel and the emotion of the severity of the situation. She knew that and gave importance to our situation, too. She engaged us in his care and her conversations.
We stayed over after his passing to support our nephew at the service. Our nephew is a young man and has lost his mother, brother, and now father. This was a very emotional time for all. During the service, we looked at the door, and Bryna walked in. Her commitment to excellent patient care went beyond the hospital setting. My husband and I both cried at her kindness and generosity of spirit. No one does anything like that anymore. Even though she was technically a stranger, she made a very real personal connection with us. She cared for her patient like a family member through every step. This is something we will never forget. I have worked for over 15 years for a faith-based hospital system and have never seen care like this.
