February 2015 Honoree
bukky daramola, MSN,RN
Bukky Daramola RN is the epitome of a compassionate caring nurse. Ms. Daramola practices kindness and compassion with all staff and veterans on a daily basis. A specific example relates to a MHC female veteran who comes to the clinic frequently - this veteran suffers from mental illness and at times loses hope - Ms. Daramola has made a point no matter what she is doing - if this veteran comes to the clinic - she sits with her and "listens"- truly "listens". She is aware that the veteran has a strong religious faith and Ms. Daramola provides her with inspirational verses that relate exactly to the current issue she is dealing with.
Ms. Daramola was selected to attend the Jean Watson Caring Science DCVAMC Conferences because of her innate caring ways. Ms. Daramola has taken "Caring Science" and run with the concept. She developed and presented a dynamic power point presentation for the MHC Team. This presentation was acknowledged by Dr. Jean Watson herself as being truly inspiring. Ms. Daramola recently submitted an article to be included in the next edition of the Nursing Newsletter to highlight the plans for implementing "Caritas" into the everyday life of the clinic.
