Burget was nominated by a fellow co-worker who cared for one of her patients the day after Burget cared for her. The patient stated that she was distraught and depressed about her cancer diagnosis and because of her compassionate and empathetic bedside mannerism, she was able to accept her diagnosis courageously. This encounter with Burget helped her emotionally and mentally get through every day she was hospitalized and was the defining moment she made the decision to bravely fight the fight.
