Byron is truly committed to service, nursing care, and concern. You will always see Byron with a smile on his face and a positive attitude to share with all those around him.
Byron is also well versed in clinical quality. He has shared his best practices with the LVN staff such as his documentation/smart phrases when he discharges a patient and goes over the After Visit Summary with them. He ensures the last touch of the patient with the clinic is documented and we can track that the patient was discharged properly and we closed the clinic loop.
He also helps train our new LVN staff on the clinical floor. He approaches this duty with optimism and positivity. The LVNs he trains highlight how he helps them find individual ways to be successful. One of the new LVNs told us a story of how she was lamenting on how she was coached that her time management skills needed to improve. He suggested timing her so that they can assess what processes are taking her longer than others. He worked with her to problem solve the situations that took her a long time and helped her improve her time management. She also shared that when her schedule fell apart later that day, Byron encouraged her improvement instead of making her feel bad. His encouragement made her feel motivated to work harder, believe in herself and improve.
All our physicians look forward to working with Byron. He is always pleasant and responsive to the patient's and the physician's needs. Physicians know that when they work with him they will have a good day because he is on top of everything. He handles every challenge with a smile and he approaches any task positively. His patients are never upset, they are kept well informed of the process and wait time. This leads to good experiences with the physician and success at the patient's receptiveness to the care plan.
Byron's patients are so happy to see him. He remembers personal things about them and converses with them like he is a long-time friend. Byron's patients feel well cared for.
He leads the clinic by example and modeling this positive behavior. I have seen Byron approach a situation where his colleagues may be negative and jumps in with a "let's look at it this way" view and tries to find the positive. Then he moves forward and leads them to follow him in his attitude and actions.
Byron has had such a positive impact on our department.
