I am honored to nominate Cadri for the DAISY Award because she is the embodiment of what it means to be an exceptional nurse. From the moment I began working with her, Cadri has consistently gone above and beyond—not only for her patients, but for her entire team. She is a true advocate for nursing, always encouraging her colleagues to work to the full extent of their scope while maintaining the highest standards of safe, evidence-based patient care.
What sets Cadri apart is her unwavering compassion. No matter the circumstances or challenges she faces, she never lets anything compromise the quality of care she provides. Her patients feel genuinely cared for, and her colleagues feel truly supported.
Cadri leads with authenticity and is a remarkable team player. She fosters collaboration and is always ready to support her peers. Since training me, she has remained a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. Her eagerness to participate in organizational initiatives and drive process improvements speaks volumes about her dedication to improving the healthcare environment for everyone involved.
Above all, Cadri doesn’t just care—she shows it. Through her daily actions, her integrity, and her tireless commitment to excellence, she makes a lasting impact on those lucky enough to work with her and be cared for by her.
Cadri is more than deserving of this recognition, and I cannot think of anyone more fitting to receive the DAISY Award.
Her commitment to patient safety is evident in her follow-through on responsibilities, particularly in process improvement efforts where she identifies risks, clarifies procedures, and implements solutions. Through her actions, Cadri not only complies with safe care standards but actively promotes a culture where patient safety and high-quality care are always the top priority.
Cadri consistently contributes to the improvement of clinical workflows and protocols to enhance patient safety and care quality. Most recently, she led a comprehensive review and update of the nurse in-basket workflow, which includes managing patient calls, prescription refills, and MyChart messages. Through her analysis, she identified significant gaps in care, including inconsistent practices across sites and frequent delays in addressing patient encounters. Her efforts resulted in a more streamlined and standardized approach, ultimately supporting more timely and effective patient communication. Additionally, Cadri initiated a review of our nursing education kits, with a particular focus on the diabetic teaching materials. Recognizing changes in the resources and the need for greater depth, she worked to ensure the kit was accurate, comprehensive, and better aligned with current patient education needs. Cadri’s proactive approach and attention to detail directly support improved health outcomes and reinforce a culture of safe, evidence-based practice. Cadri avoids assumptions in her work, always asking clarifying questions to better understand processes and ensure they align with the needs and goals of both patients and care teams. Her follow-through and dedication to refining these systems underscore her role as a proactive leader in promoting safe practices and driving better health outcomes.
Cadri consistently takes initiative to lead in-services and effectively communicates important updates to ensure her team remains informed and aligned with best practices. Her efforts extend beyond her own site, as she actively supports fellow nurse leads by sharing knowledge and promoting consistency across teams. She has played a key role in the development and implementation of skills fairs and provides thoughtful, supportive remediation to colleagues, fostering growth, confidence, and clinical excellence throughout the nursing team.
Cadri exemplifies respect for her colleagues by actively listening to their needs and concerns, ensuring that each voice is heard and valued. She is considerate of the diverse perspectives within the team and fosters an environment of trust and collaboration. Through her thoughtful approach, Cadri builds strong partnerships, empowering her colleagues to work together seamlessly and providing support when it’s needed most.

Over the past couple of years, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Cadri, leading clinic-wide RN lead meetings and collaborating on process improvements such as IV iron infusions, standardizing RN in-basket workflow, and reviewing changes made to RN onboarding training. We also helped reinstate bi-monthly clinic-wide RN lead meetings where the leads work together on various initiatives. Those are just a few examples of how involved Cadri is in nursing at Optum. Cadri has a passion for empowering nurses to utilize their knowledge and skills to work to the top of their scope, while keeping quality patient care at the center of everything she does. Cadri is a wealth of knowledge and a valuable asset to the RN lead team at Optum. She is involved in several process improvement initiatives throughout the organization and is always willing to share her expertise in helping to make things better. Big or small task, Cadri always gives it her all. She is a go-to resource for many nurses throughout the clinic and is always more than willing to help.
Although I don't work directly alongside Cadri, it is evident through her commitment to advocacy for thorough and up-to-date policies and protocols that she puts patient safety at the forefront of her nursing practice. Cadri consistently promotes safer patient care by ensuring nurses have the tools and knowledge they need to provide the safest care possible. Not just at her clinic, but clinic-wide.
Cadri is continuously involved in process improvement throughout the clinic and is always willing to work on policies and standard work to help improve patient outcomes. She is a strong voice in RN lead meetings in advocating for nurses throughout the clinic and always ensuring we are following the most up-to-date practices.

Cadri has been a long-standing and well-established RN at our location and at OptumWA for many years. In my time working with her, she's displayed excellence in many facets of the nursing practice, often going above and beyond to ensure excellent quality care, in addition to taking on many roles outside of nursing. She is a stalwart pillar of this clinic.
Cadri consistently and always works to ensure safe, reliable, and optimal care for her patients. She has time and time again been proactive in ensuring patients understand goals of care, and is always actively looking for opportunities to prevent near-misses and near-harm incidents.
In addition to her responsibilities as a nurse, Cadri has taken on many committees and management duties to help ensure quality and safety. Many committees I have attended myself have even mentioned that they have actively tried to recruit her based on her work and feedback from other staff!
In my experience, Cadri has always demonstrated advocacy and provided resources for patients. Oftentimes, she will be patient and take her time to ensure patients have a clear understanding.
Cadri remains a strong advocate for a reasonable and smooth workflow among colleagues. She displays an intimate understanding of workflow between MAs, RNs, PSR, and providers, and actively strives to ensure that, from a large overall big picture, the clinic runs smoothly. She is full of ideas and changes that may benefit the team as a whole!

It is with great pride and appreciation that I nominate Cadri Curry, RN, for the DAISY Award. I have had the pleasure of working with Cadri through our RN Lead meetings, and from the very beginning, she has stood out as a leader, a collaborator, and a passionate advocate for nursing excellence.
Since I began leading these meetings, Cadri has consistently been the first to volunteer her time and expertise to help guide our discussions and initiatives. Her willingness to step up, share her knowledge, and support her peers is a testament to her character and her unwavering dedication to the nursing profession.
Cadri has been with our organization since April 2010 and has brought her talents to a variety of departments, including Primary Care, the Walk-In Clinic, Float Pool, and Clinical Education. Her broad experience and deep clinical knowledge make her a go-to resource for colleagues across the system. She is frequently called upon to participate in educational initiatives, policy reviews, and protocol development—and her input is always trusted and valued.
Cadri’s impact is far-reaching. She is a preceptor who has trained and mentored nurses who have gone on to become leaders themselves or have taken on critical roles in departments like Quality. Her influence continues to shape the future of nursing in our organization.
Cadri is also a strong advocate for patient safety, regularly submitting RLDatix events, including self-reporting when appropriate. She leads Nurse Lead meetings, covers the front desk during staffing shortages, and steps in to room patients when MAs are unavailable—always putting the needs of the team and patients first.
One story that continues to resonate with me is how Cadri took it upon herself to call a cognitively impaired patient weekly to ensure they were taking their medications correctly. This act of compassion and dedication went far beyond her job description and is a perfect example of the kind of nurse Cadri is—one who truly sees and cares for the whole person.
Cadri Curry is an extraordinary nurse, a trusted leader, and a compassionate caregiver. Her contributions to our team and our patients are immeasurable, and she is more than deserving of the DAISY Award.
