The worst day of my life. It was the day the world I was planning changed as I delivered my precious baby girl, J, sleeping. A thought that I had never even thought would cross my mind. As I draw closer to my actual due date, along with working through my grieving process, a particular nurse is a recurrent thought. Cailey, I want to say thank you. You saw me on my worst day ever, a day that always pains me.

After delivering the baby that just had a heartbeat, I was in shock, at a loss for words, and ultimately in utter disgust with myself. I almost missed the most precious opportunity to have moments with my precious baby girl. You encouraged me to hold her, love her, and take my pictures; as I look at them today, I think of you. I think of you wiping my tears, calling me momma, and most importantly, the hug you gave me once you got off shift. You are the pure definition of an excellent nurse. I genuinely wish I could say more, but this is sending me into a spiral. I want to say thank you for everything you did for my daughter, my family, and myself. You are beyond the standard of an excellent nurse, and the care you provided me will always be in my heart. I love you and your pure spirit. Thank you. I know it’s unfortunate when this happens to a momma, but to have a nurse as unique as you adds to the darkest situation.
