Cailyn had a vision. And she made it happen. She had a vision to bring holiday spirit, joy, and love to all patients during the Christmas season. Cailyn created a Holiday Festival of Lights in the MSICU. Every hallway was decorated with lights of many colors and designs. Every nurse's station had a decorated tree. Spending the holidays in a hospital can be isolating and disheartening. By creating this beautiful light display, she provided a powerful source of joy and comfort to those who spent the holiday inpatient. Whether from their hospital beds, wheelchairs, or with family, patients were able to experience the magic of Christmas. Patients on ventilators, patients from other units, and even staff came to experience the beauty and joy of the Festival of Lights. Cailyn spent weeks and numerous hours planning and decorating. She came in on her days off to perfect this magical experience. Not only did this bring happiness to patients, but also to staff. She went above and beyond to spread Christmas cheer to all. This reminded patients that they are not alone on their journey. It lifted their spirits and reinforced that even in the most difficult times, there is joy to be found and shared.
