Cait showed such compassion for our family. Cait not only helped with explaining things at a level we could attempt to grasp, but she also showed my daughter dignity and respect.
My daughter was in a horrific car accident and is still currently in a coma in SICU. Cait was our nurse for the first couple of days when our daughter arrived. Immediately, Cait showed such compassion for our family. Cait not only helped with explaining things at a level we could attempt to grasp, but she also showed my daughter dignity and respect. My daughter is 17, and Cait did simple but meaningful things such as ensuring she was not exposed to family members when taking vitals and other tasks. Overall, she didn't just treat her like a patient number and it made such an impact in those initial hours. Cait shared with me she had too been in a car accident when she was younger, and the way she carries herself began to make sense. Cait knows what it's like to be in that bed and did everything in her power to make it as comforting of an environment as possible.

In addition to Cait's overall bedside manner, it was very clear her instincts and medical abilities are just as remarkable. Cait was in the room, and I sensed she was fixating on something. At the time no alarms were sounding in the room, however I could tell there was something that was making her uneasy. She kept looking at different machines and went to grab other colleagues. The moment she brought the other colleagues into the room, my daughter needed immediate medical aid. Other nurses, the respiratory therapist, and the trauma doctor were immediately on hand to take action. I obviously don't know what Cait saw that triggered her reaction but she noticed something and didn't overreact, however she took the actions necessary to provide the best care. As terrifying as that moment was, the reassurance that knowing Cait was on her team gave us one less thing to worry about during the worst nightmare we were enduring. So as a thank you to Cait , I want to nominate her for the DAISY Award and hope she gets the recognition we feel she deserves.
