We are delighted to celebrate Caitlin Dunphy, Senior Staff Nurse on the Medical Surgical Ward, as The Lister's Quarter 2 DAISY Award Honoree for Extraordinary Nursing.

Caitlin's manager notes that she has one of the most caring and compassionate personalities when it comes to patient care. She is always there for her patients through their highs and lows, continuously supporting and encouraging them throughout their recovery journey. This dedication is what makes her such an exceptional nurse.
As a colleague, Caitlin lights up the room with her contagious smile, positive attitude and warm personality. She embodies what patients, colleagues and managers hope to see in a nurse: compassion, professionalism, dedication and teamwork.

• I was admitted into the hospital yesterday after a visit to urgent care. I had previously had surgery and was feeling very unwell with some nasty symptoms. Caitlin has taken such incredible care of me! She has the most calming but knowledgeable presence, and I felt totally at ease. She is gentle, explaining everything to me as she does it and seems to genuinely care about how you’re feeling. I had a couple of appointments while here, so had to leave the ward a few times - she went above and beyond, finding out where my appointments were for me. Honestly, she’s possibly the kindest but still incredibly professional nurse I’ve ever had the pleasure to come across. She’s very deserving of this award. Thank you so much, Caitlin!
• My wife had exploratory jaw surgery in the evening. Caitlin was absolutely excellent, welcoming us, ensuring comfort and wellbeing for the whole family as we came in late in the evening with our young son. She was attentive, empathetic, professional, and made a situation that typically triggers my wife’s PTSD caused by a previous surgery extremely easy. Caitlin really cared about my wife, as well as the comfort of our young son during the 7 hours that we were in the hospital.
• Having been rather nervous for a procedure, I cannot describe how much Caitlin put my fears at ease. Her ability to strike up a rapport doesn't go unnoticed; simply chatting to her about anything and everything made a huge difference. Her care from start to finish was truly exceptional. Thank you, Caitlin!
• Caitlin looked after me on the third day after my hysterectomy and really helped to manage my pain medication. I became increasingly uncomfortable due to constipation and the gas used during my operation, and she kindly gave me an enema which helped enormously. She was extremely professional, calm and friendly. A real asset to the nursing team. Thank you, Caitlin.
• Caitlin was in charge the day of my surgery; she made me feel safe and in good hands. Always with a smile, and every step of the way made me have the best experience!
•From start to finish of my day care, Caitlin was exceptional at all times. So caring and professional, and with such empathy. She is a credit to the nursing profession.
