I would like to recognize Caitlin for her mentoring, teamwork, compassion, and empathy. She truly exemplifies "We Care." She approaches every shift with positiveness and energy.
She is consistently mentoring staff as a preceptor and peer. She goes above and beyond every shift to assist her teammates. We had an OCM patient on the floor, assigned to one of our newer nurses. She educated this nurse in the dying process and use of the CADD pump, clinician bolus, and when to use this option to support the patient on their journey. She advocated for this patient, who was not assigned to her, she sat with him and comforted him. She inspires staff and sets the example in her daily practice.
She jumps in and helps her peers every shift. She assists with Foley placement, IV starts, educates on NGT, chest tubes. She educates and supports staff daily, even though she has a full assignment.
Although we have little time to do the small things, Caitlin takes the time to hold a hand, rub a back, verbalize calming words to de-escalate a situation, she has even stayed over to play a cribbage game with a patient.
I could go on and on but will stop here. Caitlin embodies the spirit of nursing. She is one of the best mentors I have experienced in my 30 years of nursing.
