But always, at the moment I needed her, Caitlin was there before I went to summon her.
There was a character named Radar on MASH, a long-ago TV series that took place at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War. He reported to a General overseeing the unit who was continuously amazed by Radar's ability to provide exactly what was needed, often only seconds before he needed it. I am nominating Caitlin for being Radar to me during my second stay in the Neurosurgical ICU. These surgeries have been the most difficult of my life, full of pain, nausea, and fear. But always, at the moment I needed her, Caitlin was there before I went to summon her. She has a hard job (I can't even imagine), and she works all night. But her manner, kindness, presence, and skill were consistent and comforting. I was fortunate to have her. I'm sure her level of care contributed to my progress and rapid discharge. She is a true professional, and I'm comfortable saying she is a wonderful person. Thank you, and thank you, Caitlin. I am grateful for the opportunity to nominate you for this award and look forward to seeing you receive it. All the best to you.
