My son M is 3 1/2 years old. He has lots of energy and was confused on why he couldn't go home. Caitlin has helped him cope with staying in bed. She has gone above and beyond. This is our third day with Caitlin and not only has she helped M by running around to get the right or different equipment to better his comfort levels, she also helps relate to him. She encouraged him with his meds, played airplanes with him. She got him prizes, stickers, teddy bear coloring books and crayons when he does well with treatments. Caitlin has also helped me; she saw I was upset and she gave me a hug, told me to walk it off. I was gone for only 10 minutes and I came in to her sitting with my son making him laugh. She had him completely calmed down.
As a mother with a child who requires so much more than the simple things in life, I get overwhelmed and a simple hug helped me understand how blessed we are. M's stats dropped and Caitlin was here in minutes and I usually didn't have to call/page anyone. She is smart, outgoing and knows how to read people well but most of all she is a happy person. I appreciate all she has done the past couple of days.
I know things will get better and Caitlin really helps me see that. Also she has done a great job asking me how I usually do things at home, it makes M and me feel more at home. I'm just thankful for our outstanding nurse. She listened to me and my wishes and was very kind when we had not so good news.
