Caitlin is an example of living out "Service is our Passion". When coming into her shift, Caitlin began caring for a patient who had been in a catastrophic car accident with his son and wife. While he and his son were in stable condition, the patient's wife of 30 years was in the ICU and not doing well. The patient's injuries restricted his ability to go to the ICU to visit his wife and as his discharge date was nearing, he was upset about not getting to see his wife. Caitlin took it upon herself to get this patient to the ICU to visit his wife. She coordinated with the ICU nurses, physical therapy, and a team of nurses to get this patient to the wheelchair. He was able to see his wife for the first time since the accident. After her shift, Caitlin volunteered to come up on her day off the next day to make sure he was able to see his wife again. Caitlin is compassionate and selfless in her care for our patients here at UMC and we are so blessed to have her as a part of our team.
