Caitlyn Norton, RN

I am a Patient Care Assistant and work with Caitlyn often. I have a condition that hinders my ability to connect with others, regulate my emotions, and renders me very sensitive to sounds, lighting, and textures. Although I have learned to manage, sometimes it does unfortunately affect my ability to do my job.

This past shift, I was struggling a lot with managing and regulating my emotions. I am not proud to admit that I found myself stuck. I found myself frustrated and panicked, overwhelmed by the immense amount of stress that I was experiencing. It was then that Caitlyn demonstrated excellent care. Even though she was faced with endless charge nurse tasks, she took the time to listen. She demonstrated the perfect embodiment of Trinity Health's core values. She inquired about my well-being, then listened carefully and attentively when I explained how my condition was affecting me in that moment. She then took action immediately, helping me breathe and reset.

The most important and meaningful thing she did was listen and try to understand. This is just one example; I can think of a long list of times exactly like this. Caitlyn cares deeply about her patients on such a personal level, providing exceptional care as always. But what really inspires me is how she goes above and beyond. She not only provides excellent care for her patients, but also for her coworkers.

Caitlyn is a fantastic nurse but also an amazing human who truly cares about everyone she encounters, as well as taking action to solve problems and achieve better outcomes for everyone. Her leadership abilities and genuine empathy make her not only an amazing nurse, but an excellent example and perfect embodiment of the principles that are so valued within Trinity Health. She has a passion for helping others that is truly unmatched, and this is what drove me to share my story.
