I would like to nominate Caleb Welch, Head Nurse of Cardiology, for his engaging and consistent leadership style which brings out the best version of me as an employee, caregiver, co-worker and friend. Caleb is always present by being available to each and everyone in Cardiology. He makes it known that if I ever need help, don't feel comfortable with something in my work load, need advice or just want to vent he is there to mentor, guide and talk me through what is going on. After stepping in and serving as the temporary unit manager, even though this was a new role to him, he showed a willingness to be present each day and lead our team through tremendous growth. If someone told me that this Cardiology Department would be where it is today in such a short time it would have been hard for me to believe it possible. By Caleb stepping up to the challenge to rebuild our department we are now able to offer heart health a most important service line to the many veterans that depend on the VA to keep them healthy, happy and within the VA system. Thank you, Caleb, for always being present for those here today and tomorrow. Your presence makes working at the VA Medical Center one of the best decisions I have made in my career.
