Callista’s determination and dedication to our patients have helped to decrease losses at her clinic and increase patient satisfaction.
Callista has been with DaVita for over 10 years. She started as a new grad RN in-center and worked her way to charge nurse over the next nine years. She was a preceptor and mentor for fellow ICHD RN’s and PCT’s. In January 2020 Callista transitioned to the Home Program. Since coming out of training last year she has: trained over 15 patients, started multiple Urgent Starts (something historically unused in this program), helped the clinic increase its patient census making it the largest PD clinic in the KC metro area, and increased the physician engagement and confidence in their Home Team.
In the middle of two trainings, her cohort got hospitalized with COVID-19. Callista was in the middle of training a new TM at the time as well, who also came down with COVID-19. Callista was left to manage a 48 patient PD clinic by herself for two months and she managed to continue to train patients, collect labs including adequacy draws, do patient educations and manage doctor’s clinic, all without complaint. Callista’s determination and dedication to our patients have helped to decrease losses at her clinic and increase patient satisfaction.
Callista continuously goes above and beyond for her patients, her fellow teammates, and the physicians. She will pick up ICHD shifts on Saturdays to help support our in-center teams, she acts as a leader to her Region's Home Team and was the go-to person when they were down for three months. To quote one of her rounding physicians “Callista is a rock star. She will answer the phone at 5 o’clock on a Friday night, say yes to an Urgent Start, and be there on Sunday morning to begin training.” Callista embodies our Core Values on every level.
