Portia is head nurse for our Fort Polk CBOC. Currently we are without primary care providers for two of our four PACTs. Despite this, this clinic runs smoothly and continues to provide exceptional care for our veterans. She and her team of nurses communicate well with other clinicians who are assisting to provide "surrogate" coverage for these vacancies and they always work to meet the needs of our veterans. She and her team are an absolute joy to work with. They will assist in every way possible they can in order to help coordinate care for our veterans.

Our nurse leader has been with the Fort Polk CBOC for several years. She always goes above and beyond with the nursing staff veterans and other staff members. She always puts herself last when it comes to patient care if that means not eating lunch until the end of the day. She always comes to work with a positive attitude and ready to work. Her motivation as a leader has a profound effect on our team as a whole.
