Prior to my hospitalization, I was a healthy and very active runner. The worst part of this ordeal is that my daughter witnessed the accident. When I was first hospitalized, she had no idea, if I was alive or going to be alright. Due to COVID-19, my 13-year-old daughter could not visit me, but we have never been apart.
My mom got the idea to drive her to a spot across from my room so she could see where I was. Nurse Calyn came to my room, raised my bed high enough so that I could see out the window. While on the phone with my daughter, my mom blinked the lights on the car so that I could see her, and Nurse Calyn blinked the room lights so my daughter could see my room. I was able to talk to my daughter and reassure her that I was doing ok and would be home soon. Calyn’s caring nature to help both me and my daughter is why she deserves a DAISY Award. She also has come in to check on me when she is not my assigned nurse and again helps my daughter feel better. Thank you, Nurse Calyn, for your care and emotional support and most of all thank you for helping my daughter understand that this was not a permanent situation.

Thank you, Calyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
