I am a fourth-year medical student rotating in the ICU for the first time, and needless to say, I feel very overwhelmed and intimidated daily. On multiple occasions, Cameron has taken the time to walk me through all of the equipment that my patients are hooked up to, explained the physiology of heart failure and the devices we use to treat it, and has never once made me feel bad for asking a question or not knowing information.

The other day, he spent an extensive amount of time teaching me how to place a line using the ultrasound machine because we do not get as much exposure to line placement in medical school, and I want to practice these skills prior to starting residency. He was extremely patient with me as I required multiple attempts and guidance to place a line, which he ultimately placed because I couldn’t do it.

Cameron exemplifies all of the traits that one could hope for in a nurse. He is patient, kind, intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate, and hard-working. I felt lucky to learn from him during my time in the ICU, and I would feel very comforted if he ever took care of my loved one in the hospital.
