Cami is an extraordinary nurse. You would never know if she was having a bad day, because she always has an upbeat and positive attitude that can only be described as infectious to both staff and patients. She always greets her patients and their families with a smile and treats them with nothing but respect. Even the most challenging patient gets nothing but compassion. I have heard Cami be cursed out by patients and yelled at by family members and not once get defensive with them, but talked to them in a very professional manner.
Cami has all the qualities you would look for in a DAISY Nurse. One particular moment that typifies the wonderful nurse she is this one:
There was a challenging patient on the unit with a lot of decubitus ulcers that required frequent pain medications, Cami always volunteered to take care of the patient, "I'll take her, I know her" would be the response when making out the assignments; which is also really important in the continuity of care for the patient. One day, I was making my rounds and came to this patient's room and noticed that the patient had their hair all done up. I commented on how nice her hair looked and with a big smile, she said, "My nurse did it, she didn't want my hair to get into knots. What a wonderful person."
This is just one of many examples of the wonderful care Cami provides on a daily basis and how she goes above and beyond for her patients.
