Camie is the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Women's and Infant Services. Camie has been a great resource to GEC. We have limited resources, and delivering a baby here can be scary, as ER staff are not routinely trained for this since most ERs have an L&D unit just a few floors away. Camie has taken time out of her days to present to the GEC nursing staff a lunch and learn to help prepare them to deliver a baby. She has reviewed equipment and supplies to make sure we have everything we need to safely deliver and care for a baby, including a newborn. She has advocated and been a big part in us getting a new baby warmer. We delivered a baby at GEC and struggled to get the baby transferred. Camie volunteered and got approval from her manager to come with the crew and transport the baby to Shady Grove. She then created certificates and brought pins and certificates to GEC to honor those staff involved in the delivery, which showed appreciation for a difficult situation. She continues to go out of her way to be a resource to a unit that is not hers. She continues to give praise to the staff and offer reassurance when they encounter unusual and stressful situations. Camie truly focuses on what she can do for our patients, no matter where they are in the organization. She saw a need for help and jumped right in to educate and prepare the staff at GEC. Her constant willingness to help and uplift staff is what makes her an optimal candidate for this award.
