Camila Sarria Correa, RN
Camila was the very first nurse we had when our baby was admitted, and I truly believe she was placed in our lives for a reason.
In those first overwhelming hours, when everything felt unfamiliar and terrifying, she was a calm and steady presence who made all the difference. She took extra time to sit with me and explain exactly what was happening with my baby’s condition and what the journey ahead might look like.
She never rushed through anything. Her patience, empathy, and willingness to answer every question, even the ones I didn’t know how to ask, gave me a sense of understanding and control in a situation that felt so out of my hands.
She made me feel seen not just as a parent, but as a mother trying to navigate a scary new reality. Her kindness extended beyond medical care. It was in her tone, her body language, and the way she checked in with me emotionally.
Knowing she was there in those first critical hours gave me strength and peace of mind. I will always remember how she made me feel supported, informed, and not alone. She set the tone for the rest of our journey with her compassion and professionalism.
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award than her.
