Camille's patient was a young 30-year-old female who was diagnosed with a massive PE. She arrived at the MICCU the night before her 30th birthday, scared and distressed. Camille quickly eased the patient's fears and made her comfortable. What truly sets this nurse and this situation apart is that once the clock struck midnight and the patient officially turned 30 years old, Camille happily wished her patient happy birthday by printing out and coloring birthday signs which she placed on the walls of her room, created a rainbow banner (including blown up glove "balloons") and made her patient a birthday "mocktail" (a combo of orange juice, apple juice, and ginger ale). Having to spend a night in the MICCU as a young, otherwise healthy woman is scary as is, but having to ring in your thirtieth birthday in the MICCU could be very sad and scary. The patient and family couldn't stop raving about how Camille made the patient laugh and feel cared for in such a special way and went above and beyond to ensure that even though she had to be in the MICCU on her birthday, Camille still somehow made it a special birthday!
