(Nomination #1) Candace Darling went above and beyond while taking care of my Mother. She was very thoughtful and helpful to me and my siblings as we each visited our Mother. Examples include: communicating the details of my Mother’s status; telling us the scope and gravity of the situation. She also shared conversations that she had with our Mother when we were absent. She also told us when the doctor usually stops in and also called him to find out when he might come, because she knew we were expecting him. As I write this, we know our Mother is not long for this world. Candace is very caring and we are very grateful that our Mother was in her care.

(Nomination #2) Candace has made my Mom comfortable as she nears the end of her life. She not only is great with her, but goes above and beyond when helping our family members. I felt comfortable going home knowing that she was taking care of my Mom. Whether or not this nurse is honored with this award, she is our family’s DAISY Award winner.

(Nomination #3) Candace took such great care of my Mom that it made me feel comfortable leaving at night knowing she was in great, caring hands. I felt the sincerity in her and trusted she would take care of my Mom as if she was her own Mother. She truly deserves this award.

(Nomination #4) Candace provided compassionate support to patient and family during my Mother’s hospitalization. We so appreciated her personal phone call to alert the family to Mom’s decline during the night. She kept us informed and allowed us to be with Mom all day long.
