The first night we arrived at St. Jude, my son D was immediately put into inpatient because he had 95% Leukemia in his blood and bone marrow. I was a complete wreck not having a clue as to what was happening or going to happen.
Our nurse Candace walked in and was on top of her game taking excellent care of my son. She not only got him comfortable and calm but noticed my strong distress and actually took the time to assure me that he was in the right place and was going to get through this. I could have sworn she could feel my pain because her eyes watered and were full of compassion. She even made me smile and laugh a little - something I haven't done in many months. Nursing is her calling for sure. Thank you, St. Jude, for having such blessed nurses and doctors especially this nurse.
