If you would have told me months ago how much better I was going to feel, I would not have believed it. Prior to going to the ER in December, for two months I was going to the doctor and getting antibiotics. I felt better each time but felt worse when they wore off.
I went to the ER for shortness of breath. I told the ER doctor I just needed some antibiotics because my dog is home alone. I was admitted to the floor, where my nurse, Candi, and I talked. She told me she had two golden retrievers.
Later that day, I told the doctor I needed to go home to care for my dog or I would have to leave. Candi offered to care for my golden retriever, while I was in the hospital. My dog has been my companion since my wife passed. I trusted her and made arrangements with my brother for Candi to have a meet and greet with one of her goldens.
I was told that my dog was picked up by Candi and her husband and taken to their home. During my time at White, it was found that I had a plug in my lung and was transferred to Lafayette for a procedure to remove it.
While in Lafayette, Candi sent me pictures of my dog, as well as her dogs, and FaceTimed so I could see her. It really reduced my anxiety and increased my motivation for getting better. She really encouraged me to get better, not just for myself, but to be able to care for my dog when I got out.
Not only did she take my dog into her home and care for her, but I know if something happened to me, arrangements had been made for my dog to be cared for by Candi and her husband.
I truly appreciated everyone who took care of me at White.
