Nurse Candice was a hero. She comforted me, educated me on what was going on inside me.
I came to Dearborn Hospital on a Thursday about 3:00 am. I was admitted to emergency. Shortly after being admitted I was given a CT scan of my bladder. I was told my bladder was full of blood clots. The next step was the insertion of a catheter to help drain the bladder. The first catheter wasn't big enough to allow the clots to flow out, so it had to be removed. A larger catheter was inserted with the ability to flush and drain the bladder, all of this was very uncomfortable but necessary. By Friday night I was fighting back tears because the pain was so intense. Not long into her shift, Candice called the doctor and insisted that he increase the pain medication and add something to relax my bladder. Another medication was given to help me relax. Before the meds kicked in a large clot blocked me up. It was so painful. This comes from a person who has had open heart surgery, kidney stones, bladder cancer, and rotator cuff surgery. Nurse Candice was a hero. She comforted me, educated me on what was going on inside me. She aspirated a huge blood clot manually to help ease that situation and later increased meds to address the pain and discomfort. In closing, I wish to thank Candice with all my heart for taking such good care of me. I was truly blessed to have been a passenger on Candice’s healing bus!
